What's The Wild Now all about?

Welcome here 🌀
The Wild Now is an invitation—into presence, possibility, and the ever-unfolding nature of life.
It’s about reimagining life, moment by moment. About embracing the paradox that grief and joy, loss and renewal, often walk hand in hand.
Every day, I return to a single question:
You don’t need to live in the redwoods or by the sea for this question to matter to you. The natural world is everywhere—woven into the rhythm of your breath, the pause between words, the way sunlight catches on the rim of your coffee cup.
And don’t forget: You are the natural world. Part skin, part spirit. A completely necessary way that life is expressing itself right now.
Here, in The Wild Now, you’ll find reflections, stories, and quiet provocations for rediscovering life in the midst loss, longing, or feeling lost. Not in some grand, dramatic reinvention, but in the small, luminous moments that make up a life—the ones that so often go unnoticed.
It’s a space for those who want to walk through the world with more curiosity, wonder, and lightheartedness … and yes, inner joy. Even when, especially when, life feels heavy.
If this resonates, I’d love for you to join me.

Who's running this place?

I’m Kimberley Pittman-Schulz—an award-winning poet & writer who has a 'thing' for birds. As a grief & life transitions mentor, my 'thing' is helping people make the most of their heartbroken-and-still-beautiful lives.
In both roles, I'm all about exploring the interplay of loss, joy, being mindful, and the natural world. My work has been shaped by decades of supporting those navigating love, loss, and legacy, and by my own deep experiences with death and grief, beginning as a child.
I’ve learn that joy isn’t a destination—it’s a pathway forward.
You don’t have to go through grief to get to joy and well-being. Joy is an ever-present dimension within each day and within each of us. I know, hard to believe, but, at least for most of us, it’s true.

My writing has appeared in diverse regional & national publications, and I’m the author of two books:
Prior to my full-on work as a mentor & coach, I spent 20+ years in philanthropy leadership roles helping people change lives and leave legacies through their giving.

At heart, I’m simply a person who notices things—the way grief changes shape & texture, how joy & delight appear in unexpected places, and the power of the natural world to teach us, again and again, how to begin anew.
The Wild Now is where I share these discoveries, insights & stories.
